Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is starring in a public service ad promoting H1N1 flu shots
LANSING (AP) -- Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is starring in a public service ad promoting H1N1 flu shots.
She's one of 15 governors appearing in ads to air in their respective states. The ads also feature the popular PBS puppet character, Sid the Science Kid.
Granholm said Thursday in a conference call with reporters and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that Michigan is to receive 2.9 million flu doses.
The governor says all Michigan citizens should get vaccinated. She plans to get vaccinated now that restrictions have been lifted on who can get the vaccine.
Sebelius said Michigan has been awarded $3.7 million for making significant progress in enrolling uninsured children in health care programs this year. Nine states won performance bonuses.
