The Blue Angels pilots fly into Traverse City to get familiar with the area
TRAVERSE CITY -- The Blue Angels are back in Traverse City in preparation for a possible summertime air show.
The Blue Angels met Tuesday with local fire and police officials as well as Cherry Festival planners.
The air crew changes year to year, so the pilots who fly the powerful F-18 Hornets are here to get acquainted with the terrain.
"We need to come here and make sure that everything is safe regarding airspace, maintenance, police forces for our escort. Anywhere from the hotels as well so the whole gamut is going to be discussed while we're here on our visit," explains Lt. C.J. simonsen.
The official announcement on a Blue Angels Air Show during Cherry Festival won't be made until December 7th, but it is likely they will be back to wow the crowds this summer.
