LAKE CITY -- Slippery roads are being blamed for an accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy in Missaukee County.
According to the sheriff's office, the accident happened Monday night on M-55 in Reeder Township when a semi lost control, crossed the centerline, jack knifed and slid into a car driven by a Lake City woman.
The boy, a passenger in the car died at the scene.
The driver of the car was taken to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City in critical condition.
The truck driver was not injured in the crash.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but road conditions were slippery at the time.
