Salvation Army volunteers are 'ringing' in the holiday season in hopes of helping those in need
TRAVERSE CITY -- It's a familiar sound of the holiday season.
The Salvation Army kicked off its Red Kettle Campaign Friday in Traverse City.
Bell ringers will be stationed at several locations through out the area.
The campaign is starting a week earlier than normal in an attempt to meet the growing needs this holiday season. "The needs are especially critical right now," said Major Jennings. "We have witnessed a significant increase in the number of families and individuals who have supported the work of The Salvation Army in the past and, because of economic circumstances beyond their control, are now approaching us as potential clients," added the Major.
