MANCELONA, MI -- Around 300 employees at this Dura plant in Mancelona were handed pink slips more than a year ago. This time it's a letter in their mailboxes from the same company that is causing some concern.

Michael Shanahan, a former Dura Employee says " I wanted to check my bank accounts and my credit cards to see if anything unusual was on them. So far nothing has been abnormal."

The letter notified both employees past and present, that someone may be in possession of their social security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card information. The company believes a former employee may have exceeded the scope of their authority in accessing the information. The company's legal team tells 7 & 4 that so far fewer than 12 people have been affected. They also claim no one from Mancelona has reported a problem.

Dura officials recommend employees check their bank statements and monitor credit reports. They also claim the FBI is handing the case and that criminal charges are pending.Shanahan says "desperate times call for desperate means. People are hurting for cash."

Meanwhile Dura is reviewing its security policies to make sure something like this doesn't happen again. Any employee with questions can call the company's  HR Direct Line at 1877-469-3871.
