Organizers say there is a greater need in the community this year.

Filling an entire semi trailer with food is no easy task, but it's the goal for the Goodwill Inn's fall food drive.

The event began Thursday in Traverse City and will continue through Sunday, November 15th.  Donations of non-perishable food, toiletries and hygiene items, as well as diapers and baby food are welcome along with cash donations.  Meijer will also match the purchase of gift cards up to $2000 with a donation to the Goodwill Inn when the drive ends.

Ruth Blick with Goodwill says the need for donations is twice what it was last year and up threefold from just two years ago.

If you would like to help, you can bring your donations to Brown Lumber on South Airport Road in Traverse City.  The drive will continue from 8 A.M. to 6 P.M. Friday and Saturday and 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Sunday.
