A string of breaking and enterings into several Traverse City businesses has been happening for the past few months. As of Tuesday though, police arrested a man linked to those crimes and are now recovering the stolen property.

TRAVERSE CITY -- Breaking and enterings have happened at several Traverse City businesses from last April up until this month.  On Tuesday though, police arrested Brian Beade of Traverse City for a parole detainer and warrant requests for seven of the breaking and entering incidents.

"We know of the seven that we've requested warrants for and we're still investigating to see if he's involved in more...There was thousands of dollars taken from Slabtown Burgers, laptop computers from Northland Computers, Shumsky Insurance had some electronic equipment taken from there, Day Signs had some digital cameras taken," says Captain Brian Heffner with the Traverse City Police Department.

Captain Heffner says most of these items have been recovered and are un-damaged...So, what's the process of returning them to the business owners?

"We're in constant contact with the businesses.  Some of the property was recovered before Mr.. Meade was arrested and we try to identify immediately upon recovering a piece of property whose business that item belongs to.  So all of the property that we have in our care is, those businesses have been contacted," says Captain Heffner.

Laptops, digital cameras and all other properties will get returned to the businesses, as for thousands of dollars in cash well that's another story.

"We believe that money has been spent to buy items for Mr... Meade's personal use," says Captain Heffner.

The Traverse City Police Department believes there was another person involved with Meade's crimes.  Captain Heffner says that person is cooperating with investigators to recovery some of the stolen property.
