N1H1 influenza case is confirmed, after a young adult is taken to Munson Medical Center
GRAND TRAVERSE CO. -- A young adult was recently seen in the Emergency Room at Munson Medical Center and was tested and confirmed with the H1N1 Influenza.
This is the first Swine Flu case in several weeks in Grand Traverse County. The Health Department monitors medical providers and schools for communicable diseases, and officials say this case is not surprising in light of other parts of the country already experiencing the Swine Flu.
The seasonal flu vaccine is readily available around Northern Michigan and the vaccine for H1N1 should be available by the end of October. The staff at the Grand Traverse County Health Department has been working with area physicians, pharmacies and schools to establish multiple flu clinics for the public to receive the H1N1 vaccine when it arrives.
