Fly-in and pancake breakfast come to T.C.

Wings of Mercy is a non profit organization that provides free air transportation to qualified patients in need throughout the midwest. The group is funded entirely by donations from the community, and Saturday they held their annual pancake breakfast at Cherry Capital Aviation.

There are about 20 pilots in the northern Michigan region, who all donate their time and use of their aircraft to get people to hospitals and clinics. Wings of Mercy steps in to help when the patients can't drive themselves, or when it's too far to travel by car.

Pilots also took visitors straight to the skies. Proceeds from those airplane ride fares also support the cause. Wings of mercy volunteers have flown over 3000 flights throughout the midwest.

This is the third year for the event.  Last year they served 600 breakfasts and organizers say they expect to far surpass that mark this year.
