Area firefighters will once again be lending a hand in the fight against muscular dystrophy.

Firefighters have raised around $25,000 since the campaign began two years ago.
The goal is to collect donations which will be given to the MDA to fund research of neuromuscular diseases and provide financial support to northern Michigan families affected by M.D.
Firefighter Nathan McKerchie says "We do if for the families that can't do it for themselves and that's why we do it mostly... That's the tradition of the fire service...is we look out for the families that can't look out for themselves, that's why we do it.>
Firefighters will be at the corner of Garfield and South Airport in Traverse City Saturday morning from 10-5.
