Leaders talk about President's plan

The President and CEO of Munson Medical Center in Traverse City says it's too soon to talk about the specifics of a nationwide health care overhaul. But he also says change could be a good thing.

Ed Ness says he's encouraged by President Obama's comments about helping hospitals and physicians in rural communities.  Ness says any plan that means more coverage for the uninsured or under-insured could help hospitals all across the country.

The Executive Director at the non-profit Traverse Health Clinic agrees. Patients at the free clinic pay by donation - and often have low incomes and no insurance.

Ed Ness says says he's also concerned about cutbacks in reimbursement to hospitals, but adds it's hard to comment until a final bill is passed. Regardless of what a final bill looks like - Ness and Brennan both say it's a good discussion to have.
