Festival Events with the Environment in Mind
Friday is DTE Energy Green Day at the National Cherry Festival, highlighting renewable energy, recycling, water conservation, and the environment.
Events began in the morning with opening remarks and a dove release. Through the afternoon, live music was performed on the "Solar Stage." All of the electricity for the concerts was generated by solar panels.
Demonstrations of wind turbines and electric vehicles were also among the attractions. Green Information Sessions covered green buildings, wind energy, and other topics.
For the kids, puppet shows, crafts, and other activities were available all through the day, all with a green theme.
Over 20 vendors and groups had booths and interactive displays for festival goers to explore.
