Grand Traverse County road is the subject of ongoing discussion
A Grand Traverse County road is in the middle of an improvement project.
Holiday Road has been in rough shape for years, and there's no pot of money ready to fix it. A group made up of neighbors and interested homeowners has already met with the Road Commission to discuss the work that needs to be done. But without the funding to repave or replace the entire road, the county is turning to something new this season.
They're seal patching the worst spots along a mile long stretch of Holiday Road. It's a technique they're trying on several county roads this year - spraying liquid tar on holes and cracks and covering it with stone. The Road Commission says it's not meant to truly solve the problem - instead it's more along the lines of routine maintenance that's meant to be a short term fix.
Mary Gillis with the Road Commission says other than ongoing pothole patch jobs, this is the only repair project scheduled for Holiday Road this year. Meanwhile another community meeting to discuss a long-term solution is being planned for the end of this month.
What do you think? Is the repair job enough? Add your comments...
