Visitors come back to McGulpin Point
The lights are finally coming back on for an Emmet County landmark. Today marks the official re-lighting of the McGulpin Point Lighthouse near Mackinaw City
The lighthouse was first lit back in 1869 to guide ships through the Straits of Mackinac. It was in operation until the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse took over those duties in 1906. But in 2008 the County purchased the McGulpin Point Lighthouse to return it to the public, and it's now open for tours.
The public was invited to a dedication ceremony on Saturday.
