The event aims to raise money for cancer research and treatment.
TRAVERSE CITY -- Twenty-four hours of teamwork will raise thousands of dollars in the fight against cancer.
The Traverse City Relay For Life event is underway at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.
Volunteers form teams and collect donations to join in the relay. Then teams then sign up to walk various shifts throughout the day and that means someone from every team is always walking for the cause, for 24 hours straight.
The money raised benefits the American Cancer Society. Last year volunteers raised $105 thousand. This year they hope to do even better.
Teams of walkers will be out all night tonight until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
