53 New Boat Slips Added this Year
ELMWOOD TOWNSHIP -- Elmwood Township Marina is adding 53 new boat slips and 11 new moorings this year.
The new dock is the final phase of an ongoing project that has included two other docks and a breakwall that have been built within the past 10 years.
The new slips will accomodate 35 to 45 foot boats. They will be used by both seasonal boaters, who rent the slips for months at a time, and transient boaters who come in to Grand Traverse Bay for a day, a weekend, or special events like the National Cherry Festival.
The overall cost of the project is $700,000, with $300,000 of that coming from a State grant.
