Before Monday nights Traverse City commission meeting got underway Mayor Michael Estes and commissioners Deni Scrudato, Jim Carruthers, and Barbara Budros were each privately served legal papers. The papers are part of a pending lawsuit regarding a violation of the Freedom of Information Act.

The plaintiff in the case is George Galic. The mayor tells 7&4 News that Galic is a former member of the city's library board.

Galic was not re-appointed after his term expired.

The mayor says the city commission found other members that they felt were a better candidate for the position.

The legal document was a request for the mayor and commissioners from Judge Thomas Powers. He is asking that they temporarily retain the records they have on each of their computers.

We will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest information as it becomes available.
