Friendly bet between Governors as MSU takes on UNC
(AP) -- RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue thinks Michigan's governor would look good in blue.
Perdue accepted a friendly wager from Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm as North Carolina faced Michigan State in the NCAA championship game Monday night in Detroit. The Tar Heels defeated the Spartans 89-72 to claim their fifth national title. Both agreed to be photographed wearing the winning team's jersey and hat while dining on food from the team's state.
That meant if the Tar Heels lost, Perdue would trade her beloved Carolina blue for green and white and dine on Michigan-made Kowalski sausage and cherries. The governor of the losing team would alsol donate $100 to a local food bank in the winning team's state.
Perdue said she and Granholm have several things in common - including they both "look good in Carolina blue."
