Car accident knocks out power to residents

Driver hits power pole in Leelanau County

M-22 GREILICKVILLE -- Some residents in Leelanau County were without power just before midnight Saturday night after a car hit a power pole.

It happened on M-22 in Greilickville, just outside of Traverse City.  Witnesses at the scene say the driver told them she fell asleep and drifted off the road before hitting the utility pole. Those witnesses tell 7 & 4 there were not any serious injuries.

Motorists had to be re-routed onto side streets to avoid the hanging power lines. Power was out until almost 4 am Sunday.
