LUDINGTON -- Part of the roof collapsed at the Visitors Center at Ludington State Park. A 24-foot by 40-foot section of the Great Lakes Visitors Center collapsed from heavy snow pile-up on the roof.  The damage was discovered Thursday by an inmate work crew.

According to the park manager the roof and walls fell down around the building's theater area.  He says it looks like the damage happened very recently.  In 19 years he says they haven't felt the need to remove snow from the roof.

The Ludington area has already seen more than 130 inches of snow this year.
