Gov. Granholm asked auto insurers to freeze rates, today was the deadline to agree.
A dozen auto insurers have agreed to freeze their rates but dozens more have not.
Governor Jennifer Granholm asked auto insurers in last month's State of the State Address to freeze rates for 12 months so lawmakers have time to consider changes suggested by the state's insurance advocate. Today was the deadline to respond. Twelve agreed to the freeze but that leaves 95 more that didn't agree, including many major insurers like Allstate, Geico and State Farm.
In response the Granholm Administration says they'll closely scrutinize rate filings submitted by insurers who don't pledge to freeze rates.
