Certain certificates used by Petoskey and Charlevoix can't be used
CHARLEVOIX AND PETOSKEY -- A gift certificate company in Ohio has filed for bankruptcy, and some people right here in Northern Michigan could be losing out because of it. As of last Thursday CertifiCheck Inc. posted on it's website that it has ceased operations.
Both Petoskey and Charlevoix had used the company for issuing gift certificates for either chamber of commerce's member businesses. The Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce is asking residents and merchants to hold onto their un-redeemed checks as they continue to evaluate the situation.
The Gaylord/Otsego County Chamber of Commerce has stated that chamber member businesses should continue to accept the certificates; businesses are asked not to deposit the certificates, but rather submit them to the chamber office for reimbursement.
