The annual dive looks at the Keuka shipwreck
LAKE CHARLEVOIX -- The sun was shining but there's still some ice on the lake - making it a great time for the annual Lake Charlevoix Ice Dive.
Some newly certified ice divers joined forces with veteran ice divers from around the state to dive the popular Keuka shipwreck. Water temperatures at 34 degrees were much warmer than the air temperature which was just 11 degrees.
Even some of the locals came out to watch after learning of the history of the famous shipwreck which was reportedly a speakeasy and eventually scuttled. The annual event is sponsored in party by Scuba North and the Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve.
