Students Learn about "Non-Traditional Careers"
CADILLAC -- Around 100 high school girls from area schools came together with professional women at the Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center.
The fourth annual Careers for Women Conference introduces students to careers traditionally held by men.
A veterinarian, dentist, yoga instructor, probation and parole agent, army recruiter, audiologist, state police officer, and our own meteorologist Jayne Smith were among the speakers, representing 13 fields.
Between presentations, students had opportunities to speak one-on-one with the professionals and ask questions.
Special Projects Coordinator Jennifer Gaffke with the Career Tech Center says the conference is a great opportunity for girls to learn about careers they may not have considered.
Gaffke says the conference has been well-received by students and presenters over the past four years.
