WASHINGTON (AP) -- Crafting an economic stimulus package on Capitol Hill has not been smooth going.

Some key elements of the package have been passed by a party-line vote in the House, and Republican leaders say Democratic talk of bipartisanship is looking insincere.

Republicans want deeper tax cuts.

The Democratic measure is expected to costs at least $825 billion. Republicans in both the House and Senate are developing alternatives, arguing there's no reliable estimate of the impact the Democratic plan would have on jobs.

Barack Obama and top Democrats and Republicans from the House and Senate plan to meet Friday.
