A downtown community is trying to raise money for local activities, by keeping people warm at an annual chili cook off.

It's the 15th year for the chili cook-off in Traverse City, held again this year at the Park Place Hotel.  Last year's event brought in more than 1,000 taste testers, and area restaurants are competing with their own recipes in eight different categories.

This year 17 restaurants are throwing their "chef's hat" into the ring for the contest. Here is the list of winners as reported by the Traverse City Downtown Development Authority.

·         Ethnic – Travino Wine & Grille

·         Seafood – Scalawags Whitefish & Chips

·         Vegetarian – Oryana-Lake St. Cafe

·         White – Minervas

·         No Bean – Travino Wine & Grille

·         People’s Choice – Minervas White Chili
