Speeding violation leads to drug arrest

A 17-year-old Traverse City man was jailed on drug possession.

TRAVERSE CITY -- A stop for a speeding violation leads Traverse City Police to the arrest of a teenager on drug charges.

An officer pulled over a car for speeding early Sunday morning when he says he smelled the odor of burnt marijuana in the car.

Police say a baggie with five grams of cocaine was found on the floor after the driver was ordered out of the car.

Officers say they found several more baggies with cocaine and marijuana in them.

A 17-year-old Traverse City man was taken to jail on drug possession.
