TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City Light and Power is looking at new options after delays in building new transmission lines. Earlier this month the TCLP approved $250,000 to be spent on the design and engineering of of an upgrade that would connect Traverse City with a proposed substation on the corner of Bugai and M-72 in Elmwood Township. Now Traverse City Light and Power has placed a hold on the project to take time to consider tapping into a power line that is being upgraded by international transmission company. ITC is looking to upgrade a transmission line between Gaylord and Traverse City. Officials also say the Wolverine substation is not for sure and tapping into the ITC line might be a better option. Options will be discussed at the January 12 meeting between the Traverse City Commission and TCLP.
