A Cheboygan company will now be paying to have its wastewater treated by the city. On Tuesday the Cheboygan City Council voted to start charging the Great Lakes Tissue Company for water treatment. The city unanimously voted to charge five cents per pound to treat the waste. City officials believe Great Lakes Tissue will produce 60,000 pounds of waste a year. The solution will resolve a dispute with the Department of Environmental Quality regarding how to treat the water.
