PARADISE TOWNSHIP -- The Paradise Township Fire Department will be moving from Blair Street to a larger station off of M-113 in Kingsley. Crews at the township fire station say the move is long over due. They say the amount of equipment is crowding up in the garage making it more difficult for them to get cars out for an emergency. Crews say the new building will allow them to add staff and could lead to faster response time. EMT Melissa Hulett says, "the call volume is going up more people moving into the area and they got it set up so someone can stay there overnight and can be available and won't have to come from home in the middle of the night, so times will be quicker." Township officials say the new building will cost about $1 million. The Township Supervisor says it will be funded through a loan and officials also hope the community will approve a millage to help cover the costs.
