A decision has been made not to appeal a rulling to stop oil and gas drilling in a national forest area. The more than 4,500 acre Huron-Manistee National Forest is safe from drilling. The government announced that they will not seek to appeal a United States District Judge David Lawson's July ruling to block drilling near the Au Sable River. Environmantalists say the decision will help protect the river's beauty. This wilderness area is also prized by anglers and other outdoor recreationists.
