Just one day after Congressman Pete Hoekstra announced plans to not seek re-election, Republican State Representative Bill Huizenga of Zeeland says he plans to run for the seat in 2010. At a press conference Tuesday morning, Bill Huizenga announced his candidacy for Michigan's Second Congressional District which includes Benzie, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Oceana and Wexford counties in Northern Michigan. Bill Huizenga, 39, served as Hoekstra's Director of Public Policy for six years prior to 2002, the year he was elected to the State House of Representatives.
