A new study from the University of Utah finds drivers are much more distracted by talking on a cell phone than talking with another passenger in the car. Using a driving simulator, researchers found drivers on cell phones drifted out of their lanes and missed exits more often than those chatting with a passenger. In fact, cell phone drivers are as impaired as drivers with a.08 blood alcohol level, and young adults on the phone have reaction times as slow as senior citizens.
