A statewide sweep aimed at getting offenders off the streets leads to the arrest of 175 fugitives. The statewide apprehension of fugitives effort or SAFE is a project conducted across the state 4 times a year since 2003. This latest round took place December 2nd through the 4th. Arrests were made for people with outstanding warrants for to a variety of felony crimes. The project was a joint effort of the State Department of Corrections, the State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service, with help from County Sheriff's Departments and local police.
