CHEBOYGAN -- According to the Director of the Cheboygan Humane Society, Mary Talaske, demand for pet food is just as high as local food pantries. That's why the organization is placing a dozen collection bins at area businesses to try to gather food and other items, not only for those animals at the shelter but also for pet owners who may not be able to afford to feed their cats or dogs. Mary Talaske says, "our food pantry is fairly low right now and demand is high, we've seen people out here every day and we've never turned anyone away but we really could use some new supply on the shelves." You can drop off needed items at collection bins located at various stores throughout Cheboygan County or by contacting the Cheboygan Humane Society directly by following the link or calling 231-238-8221.
