Benzie County event supports worthy causes

Making the weekend more fun for you and the kids could also help adults with special needs.

Two community groups in Benzie county are hosting a holiday store and Santa's workshop - every Saturday between now and Christmas. Organizers are also sponsoring a canned food drive and winter clothing drive for area families in need. Meanwhile the holiday store offers handmade arts and crafts, and the kids get a chance to visit with Santa.

The Benzie Food Partners and Benzie Community Mental Health are supporting the project. Again - it's open every Saturday between now and Christmas - and it's at the Benzie Drop-In center on US 31 in Benzonia.

The holiday store will showcase all handmade arts & crafts by members of Wellspring arts, area adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness who are developing their artistic talents.
