MDOT, the Michigan Department of Transportation, announced there will be changes to it's winter maintenance operations. Officials say be prepared for it to take longer to clear the roads following a snow storm--particularly those beginning in "U.S." or "M". The state highways will be designated either a priority one or two. Priority ones will be cleared of all ice and snow using overtime if necessary. Priority twos will be cleared of most or at least one lane in each direction. Priority ones are known as orange routes, and priority twos are in blue.
