Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op reports that snow load and fallen trees and branches on power lines caused over 1,000 power outages across the tip of the mitt. The wet snow fell across the region Monday night, coating trees and weighing down branches. Crews were dispatched and worked throughout the night, restoring electricity to about half the homes by Tuesday morning.

They estimate about 800 people remain without power, but crews will continue working until all members are restored. As the temperatures rise and branches release the melting snow, there may be additional reports of blinking lights and scattered outages.

Presque Isle Electric & Gas Co-op members who lose power should contact them immediately at 1-800-423-6634 to report outages or downed power lines.
