The states fifth Operation Verify took place in October. State Police say besides the nearly 200 arrests 682 additional arrest warrants were requested during the nearly 2 week sweep. A total of 2,200 offenders had been arrested in the four previous Operation Verify sweeps since 2005. Under Michigan state law, convicted sex offenders must register with local police agencies and verify on a regular basis that they still live at the same address.
