When it comes to saving money in our daily lives one of our best tolls may actually be our telephone. I have set up a little challenge for myself using nothing but this pone and 30 minutes on the clock I am going to see how much I can save on my monthly expenses.
Turns out its garbage day at the Schollett house, had to take the trash down to the end of the street. I noticed an awful lot of services that pick up garbage along our street so I made some phone calls. Three phone calls later I found a service that would take $10 off my quarterly bill.
Next call, the cable company. Do you have any promotional offers right now? They did, in fact the customer service rep told me they always do and people are constantly jumping from one to the other to get better deals. So I jumped to the tune of $5 per month off my bill and to sweeten the deal they threw in some premium channels.
I was wondering if I could save any money be raising the deductible on my car insurance? Yep, by raising my deductible from $500 to $1,000 I could save $220 dollars a year in premiums.
Another call to my cell phone carrier. I threatened to switch, they took $10 off.
And one to one of my credit car company to see if they would wave the $25 dollar annual fee, they did and my 30 minutes were up.
In about a half hour, $372 worth of savings pretty easy to do and all you have to do is make a few phone calls.
