Man charged after killing bicyclist with his truck

CLEARWATER TOWNSHIP -- Criminal Charges have been authorized against a 50-year-old Rapid City man for the traffic related death of Carl John Ray which occurred on July 31, 2008. Ray was riding a bicycle on the paved shoulder of Rapid City road when he was struck from behind by a pickup truck which had veered off the road. The driver of the truck was taken to the Kalkaska Memorial Health center. The man is being charged with operating under the influence of a controlled substance causing death, and negligent homicide. If convicted he could spend up to 15 years in jail. The name of the driver is being with held pending arrest and a formal arraignment.
