The Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association has released options for raising money for Michigan roads. One proposal would eliminate the 19-cents-a-gallon gasoline tax and instead tax the wholesale price of gas. Another proposal would raise vehicle registration fees by 50 percent. Legislators say they are unsure whether much will get done before next year. A state task force released a report last week saying transportation spending must be doubled.
