East Bay dredging verdict

A hotel employee will pay almost $10,000 in fines for dredging part of East Grand Traverse Bay.

In November 2006, state and federal authorities say Joseph Moffa allowed bulldozing more than 100 feet into East Bay at the Cherry Tree Inn. Moffa was found guilty to two misdemeanor charges for violating state wetlands and submerged bottomland laws in mid-September. Tuesday Joseph Moffa was sentenced to one year of probation more than $9,500 in fines and costs.
