Sportsmen Against Hunger reminds deer hunters to donate to those in need
The DNR is encouraging deer hunters to donate part or all of their harvests to help feed those in need. It's part of the Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger program.
Last season hunters donated almost 23,000 pounds of venison to local charities by using licensed processors. Hunters can either donate the entire deer, or as little as one pound of the meat they've had processed for their own use.
