Area Ski Resort getting a Facelift for the Season
TRAVERSE CITY -- Along with soon seeing fresh snow on the slopes, Mt. Holiday will soon have a fresh new look. A renovation project that began in May should be coming to a close in time for ski season. The lodge will be getting new insulation, a new heating system, and a new kitchen--in addition to new siding. Expansions are planned for the beginner hills to accomodate more skiers. Much of the work has been done by volunteers.
Executive Director Rick VanTonegren says,"The volunteer help that we are getting is fantastic. People have been helping with painting, putting in insulation, helping clean up... all the basic day to day needs that we have." VanTonegren says the renovations should be completed by December 12th.
Mount Holiday will have its fourth Snowvember Fest on Saturday, November 15th to raise money for new terrain park features. That event starts at 5:00 p.m. and will feature food, prizes, and, if the weather allows, fresh snow.
