TRAVERSE CITY -- Bill Steffler served in World War II and returned home in 1946. Steffler was an Army soldier in Army's 103rd Field Artillery Battalion. In honor of Veterans Day Steffler spoke at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center. He read letters he had written during the war and spoke of his experiences. Bill says, "probably 90 percent of my generation has gone to the next assignment so what I'm trying to do is give the present generation some idea of what an average soldier did during World War II." Bill Steffler says putting this presentation together gave him a chance to put things together for his family.
