A new report says Michigan should consider a number of tax increases to boost the amount of money it has to spend on roads.
Governor Granholm's Transportation Task Force released its report Monday after gathering information from drivers all across the state. They say Michigan needs to double the amount of money it spends on its roads. To do so they suggest reconfiguring the 19-cent-a-gallon state gasoline tax or taxing the wholesale price of gasoline instead. Other ideas include raising vehicle registration fees and boosting the state's 6 percent sales tax by one penny on the dollar.
