A Grand Traverse County Community is mourning the loss of a teen killed in a weekend car accident.
The accident happened Sunday afternoon on I-75 just south of M-134 in Mackinac County's Saint Ignace Township. The sheriff says 13-year-old Christina Brooks was in a car that pulled over to help another driver that slid into a ditch. He says when Brooks got out of the car an oncoming car lost control and hit her as she stood on the shoulder of the road. Christina Brooks was an eighth grader at Traverse City West Middle School. There will be a wake and viewing at the Covell Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. A funeral will be held at the same location on Saturday at 1:00 p.m..
