Scientists are warning that the Great Lakes are on the verge of ruin, from big-city sewage and invasive species.

Great Lakes advocates are begging the next President to fund a rescue plan expected to cost more than 20 billion dollars. Senator Obama has released a five-point plan including 5 billion dollars for restoring the lakes' health while Senator McCain says the fiscal crisis makes any specific funding pledge at this point an empty gesture.
