LANSING (AP) -- Gov. Rick Snyder has announced appointments to the governing bodies of Michigan Technological University and Ferris State University.

The Republican governor's office said Thursday that Robert Jacquart of Ironwood and Linda Kennedy of Troy are being appointed to Michigan Tech's Board of Control. The office also announced the appointments of Erin Brown of East Lansing and Lori Gwizdala of Bay City to Ferris State's Board of Trustees.

Their eight-year appointments are subject to state Senate approval and expire on Dec. 31, 2020.

Jacquart replaces Kathryn Clark and Kennedy replaces Martha Richardson on the Michigan Tech board. At Ferris State, Brown replaces board chair Ronald Snead and Gwizdala replaces George Menoutes.

The outgoing board members were appointed by then-Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat.
